Terence McArthur was convicted of the manslaughter of his 14-day-old daughter Tracy McArthur.
He killed her on or before 1 June 1976 in Plymouth.
The death of his daugter was reopened after Terence McArthur underwent mental health treatment in 2017 in which he said that he had killed a child and that it had been considered a cot death at the time.
The police found that medical records from 1976 and interviews with Tracy McArthur's mother confirmed his account.
